Stuffed Dates
December 06, 2024
Well, it's another late-night Holidailies post! We just finished watching the Caps beat the Maple Leafs in a low-scoring slobberknocker of a hockey game and now Joe is watching (and I am sort of watching) Say Nothing while I put together a quick post.
Anyway!
Back in the olden days, my parents hosted a post-midnight Mass breakfast for friends and family. Mom went all out making the special Christmas delights: crescent rolls, sea foam candy, and stuffed dates. Pop scrambled the eggs and fried the bacon. All the grownups drank Bloody Marys and/or coffee, and the kids and teenagers drank orange juice.
So. Did you catch the reference to stuffed dates? Because I'm about to give you the recipe. Did you think "Stuffed dates? Eww." or "Stuffed dates? Sounds delicious!" or "Stuffed dates? What in the world do you stuff dates with?"
Well, first off, they're delicious. Secondly, they are dead easy to make. Third, here's the recipe.
Ingredients
1 package pitted dates
1 package walnut halves
Some confectioner's sugar
Instructions
Take a date and pry it open.
2. Put a walnut half in it and close it up.
3. Roll it in the confectioner's sugar.
4. Repeat until you run out of dates, walnuts, and/or sugar.
And that is all there is to it!
