Eighteen Things

I saw this on the lovely and talented Denise's Facebook page and thought, "I could do this right here on Facebook OR..."

Eighteen random FACTS about yourself that may surprise people.

Well, I don't know if these nuggets will surprise anyone, but here goes.

1. Do you make your bed every day?

Joe usually makes the bed, but I'll surprise him sometimes.

2. What's your dream job?

Currently? My dream job is no job. The company performance review form has a section for Career Development, and I do not want to develop my career, so I usually write something only slightly snarky, like "As I approach retirement, career development has become a lower priority for me." What I really want to say is "No career development for me, sucker!"

3. If you could, would you go back to school?

Yes. I'd love to just pick and choose the courses I take, without any exam or paper pressure. I knew a wonderful woman in my professional organization named Lottie. She was elderly, probably in her 70s (HAH). At one of our society's conferences, she invited me to join her for breakfast. I asked her how she was doing and she replied, "Mary, I've just gotten my fifth Master's degree!" Me: "WOW! That's wonderful! How did you do that?" Her: "Well, I just keep taking courses at the University, and every so often they give me another Master's degree!"

4. Can you parallel park?

Yes. I hate it, but I can do it.

5. Name a job you had which people would be shocked to hear you had?

I doubt anyone would be shocked to hear that I was a circus clown anymore, so how about Santa's Helper? Yep, I was one of the folks who took pictures of snotty, crying kids visiting Santa at the mall. It was horrible and I quit on the day before Christmas Eve.

6. Do you think aliens are real?

Sure, why not? The universe is vast. If they truly have higher intelligence, they'll avoid Earth like the plague.

7. Can you drive a stick shift?

I did learn to drive a stick shift - three on the tree - in my circus days. God only knows if I could still do it.

8. Guilty pleasure?

Candy Crush. Don't judge me.

9. Tattoos?

None. But I love seeing other folks' ink.

10. Favorite color?

Blue, especially these days!

11. Things people do that drive you insane?

Stomp on the floor above me. I try to shine it on.

12. Biggest fear?

Another Trump administration.

14. Do you talk to yourself?

It's more like mumbling.

15. Do you like doing puzzles?

Yes! I enjoy crosswords and all sorts of puzzles, except Sudoku. I'm lousy at Sudoku.

16. Favorite music?

Blues and Funk, but I do love lots of different genres.

17. Tea or coffee?

Coffee, black. Or a latte with an extra shot.

18. First thing you remembered wanting to be when you were growing up?

A ballerina. Honest.
