Day 11: Maple Pancake

Wow! As soon as I opened today’s marshmallow packet, the scent of maple syrup caressed my smeller. And the taste! Really good, just like a short stack smothered in real maple syrup. Loved it.

I do love a good pancake. I can’t eat more than two standard-sized pancakes anymore, but that’s okay. I can eat a pancake plain, slathered in butter, or drizzled with honey. But for me, maple syrup is the topping of toppings.

I discovered the wonder of Grade B dark syrup on a trip to a country festival - it was kind of a Ren Fair without the shows, turkey legs, and costumes. The nice folks from the maple syrup… farm? … had samples; when I tried the Grade B, the angels sang. It’s a stronger, deeper maple flavor and it is so good! It’s not timid and pale; it’s dark and robust - the extrovert of maple syrups.

Just writing about it has sparked a craving, so excuse me while I look up an online purveyor and place an order.
