Sunday Stealing: Fashion Asks
December 17, 2018
Oh, I know - it's Monday. What am I thinking, doing Sunday Stealing on Monday? Well, I'm thinking I'm tired and the weekend memes come in handy!
What season has your favorite looks?
Late fall and/or early spring, when it's cool enough to wear sweaters and boots but warm enough to go without a coat.
Formal or casual?
Definitely casual, but I do clean up nice. Early in my career, I remember being encouraged to wear suits and hose to work. I tried, honest I did, but I hated every minute.
Thrift store, boutique, or online?
Online or boutique - but LL Bean, Eddie Bauer, Duluth Trading type of boutique. Also, Chico's for jeans.
What’s your favorite decade for fashion?
I really like the 1930s styles, as shown in Astaire and Rogers films. Elegance!
Do you like to accessorize?
I do, especially bracelets. I have a ton of bracelets - cuffs, stretchy, clasp, you name it. I love my Pandora, and lately I've been enamored of Sashka beaded bracelets - I wish they didn't have that annoying wheel of discounts - and Zox straps.
What does your basic outfit look like?
Jeans or black elastic-waist pants and a top - tee shirt in the summer, sweater or long-sleeve tee in the winter.
What piece of clothing do you spend your money on the most?
Tom's shoes and tee shirts.
Do you wear hats?
I wear knit hats and toques in the winter, and I have a floppy straw hat that I wear in the summer. I can't wear most hats because my hair is thick and my head is a melon.
What is your opinion on wearing socks and sandals together?
If it works for you, why not?
What colors do you like to wear?
Dark on the bottom, bright on the top - although I do wear black and navy on top too.
What are some of the strangest outfits you have seen?
Most of the haute couture I see in the New York Times fashion ads.
What fashions do you hate?
Low-rise jeans. I have never been able to wear them comfortably.
What are you favorite styles?
A-line, fit and flare, tunics. If it hides my butt and I don't have to tug on it, I like it.
What do you think of body piercing?
It's not for me, but if you like it, go for it!
Do you like dyed hair?
If it's done well. Dyed is fine; fried is not. I personally don't color my hair, but it's mostly because I'm lazy and cheap.
