Miraculous

Today's Holidailies prompt asks about miracles:

To commemorate the first day of Hanukkah, let's talk about miracles. What do you think constitutes a miracle? Have you ever experienced one?

When Joe was a volunteer docent at the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History, he worked primarily in the Sant Ocean Hall. The Ocean Hall is right next to the Hall of Human Origins, so a lot of folks go from one to the other.

Occasionally Joe would get questions -- or challenges, really -- from people who did not believe in evolution or that man (a primate) could have evolved from other primates.

One day he was talking to a teenager about how whale's ancestors were likely land animals that went into the ocean and evolved into the majestic creatures of today. The kid said, "But the Bible says the Earth was made in six days, so evolution is wrong."

Joe just looked at him and said, "You know, because science says creation took millions of years doesn't make it any less miraculous."

I believe that life, the universe, and everything is a miracle.
