About Damn Time

With A Cherry On Top

Today was a hot fudge sundae -- or Sunday, if you will.

First of all, Joe had the day off! It's rare these days when we both have the same day off, so we decided to make the most of it.

So we went grocery shopping.

Hey, you get your fun where you find it, and this morning we found it at Harris Teeter. We bought almost everything we need for holiday feasting, including the Knox gelatin for the BPPITWEW. We did forget the Stove Top stuffing and whipping cream, but those will be easy to pick up. (And don't get on my case about Stove Top stuffing. It was good enough for Mom; it's good enough for me!)

After putting all the groceries away, we decided to really ratchet up the fun factor, so we went to the movies to see The King's Speech. Alas, the three o'clock show was sold out -- so we bought tickets to the four o'clock show and strolled down the street to have a light nosh at the American Tap Room. This was an unexpected treat, so never mind about that "Alas".

We thought we got back to the theater early, but ended up having to sit farther down front than we like. But it didn't matter because the movie was just great. You wouldn't think a drama about speech therapy could be riveting, but it was. Colin Firth and Geoffrey Rush were simply brilliant; I'm not ashamed to admit that I got a bit misty eyed at the end.

And the cherry on top of my hot fudge Sunday?

My Capitals finally ended their eight-game losing skid with a gritty 3-2 win over Ottawa. Thank you, Matty P. for those two great goals! Now, let's see if we can string together a few more wins, okay?
