About Damn Time

Today the US Senate voted to repeal the exceedingly lame "Don't Ask; Don't Tell" law prohibiting gay men and lesbians from serving openly in the military. It's about damn time! Gay men and lesbians have been serving in the armed forces of the United States since there was an armed forces of the United States. Of course, they have not been able to be honest about their sexual orientation for fear of discharge or worse.... Read more →

Not Quite Snowmageddon

I worked at home today, because it snowed an inch yesterday. Hey, it's as good an excuse as any! Besides, Joe's working a late shift today, which means I'd have to take the bus and walk the quarter-mile home from the bus stop. Normally this is not a problem, although I do get a little nervous walking home in the dark. Summer time? No problem. Winter time? Meh. A little nervous. One night I sang... Read more →

Thank You, Anonymous Elf!

This morning I opened up my email and in amongst the ads touting free shipping and slashed prices and reminders of tasks as yet undone was an early Christmas present -- a $10 gift card from Amazon from an anonymous elf! I must admit that I almost didn't open the email, thinking it was another ad. But then I read the subject line and saw that this was no ad; it was a gift! I'm... Read more →

My Holiday Plans

Two days to go and then I am on vacation for two weeks! I cannot emphasize enough how ready I am for this time off. I have big plans: Christmas, and all that that entails Sitting on my ass Sitting on my ass Sitting on my ass, and Throwing 2010 into the ocean. Actually, I'm hoping to get more cleaning done in the basement, where I am slowly, slowly, slowly dealing with Mom's stuff and... Read more →

In A Blizzard, Uphill, Both Ways!

It's damn cold outside. RIght now it's in the mid-twenties with mind-numbing wind chill. Reminds me of the winter I spent with Voorheis Brothers Circus in Michigan, living in my van. (Cue twinkly flashback music...) Yes, it was the dead of winter in Michigan. I was doing advance work for the show, then meeting up with them to clown. I knew it was going to be ass cold while I up there, so I prepared... Read more →

Thirty Days of Truth 21 though 25

Day 21 → (scenario) Your best friend is in a car accident and you two got into a fight an hour before. What do you do? Why does this strike me as a particularly teenage question? Sigh. All right, I'd totally go and see my friend and like, make up and all. You know? Because, like, we're BFFs and stuff. Day 22 → Something you wish you hadn’t done in your life. There are a... A Busy Day

Man am I bushed! Serves me right for sitting on my ample ass the last couple of weekends. It was quite a busy day, although we were able to sleep in a bit. Joe had to be at work at 11:00; I had a cookie-baking date anytime after 10:00. I also had to mail a package, go grocery shopping, and run a couple of other errands. I am not used to such activity! The cookie... Read more →

I Am No Good At Trash Talk

I am going to see my Capitals tonight and I am hoping they spank some Panther ass. We need a good win to snap this three-game losing streak and get us back into our normal winning ways. I mean, I just hate it when we get up by three goals and blow the lead in the waning minutes of the third period. It makes for a very cranky Bozoette, one who is filled with angst... Read more →

Thirty Days of Truth 17 through 20

Okay! Back to the Thirty Days of Truth memememememe; today I'll tackle numbers 17 through 20 using my newly adopted minimalist style. Day 17 → A book you’ve read that changed your views on something. The Shock Doctrine, by Naomi Klein helped me understand (a little!) the intricate playground of international disaster capitalism. While it didn't exactly change my views, it sure opened my eyes. I had to read it in chunks because it kept... Read more →
