Gnashing Of Teeth
New Year's Day: In The Books!

Goodbye, 2010

Goodbye, 2010; don't let the doorknob hit you in the ass.

I am ready for a new beginning, a breath of fresh air, and deep cleaning of the spirit.

It's not that 2010 was a total clusterfuck; it wasn't. There were many wonderful things about 2010: travel, reunions with friends, days at the beach, hockey games, and work success for both Joe and me.

But in spite of all that good stuff, I was sad and stressed out for most of the year. Mom's death, even though expected, was the worst of it, of course. I had two bad bouts of bronchitis and a couple of nasty colds. Work was tough enough that I didn't take any decent vacation time all year.

This two-week vacation has been very good for me. I put no pressure on myself; I did only what I wanted to do. That involved a lot of nothing, a little decluttering, some baking and cooking, and a bunch of guilty pleasure television watching.

And now I think I am ready to get back to work and rediscover play, to deal with reorganizations and new projects, and to finally get some positive energy going rather than just simply getting through the days.

So come on in, 2011 -- away we go!
