April Fool And Good Friday
April 02, 2010
I'm not very good at pulling April Fool's jokes, but I do appreciate a good prank. I know a lot of folks who thought Google's was kinda lame, but I thought it was pretty funny.
Topeka. Really. With the experience I've had in Corporate World, I wouldn't put it past them.
There were a few other very clever jokes posted yesterday. I quite enjoyed this one and this one from the folks at Articulate, and this one, from Inman News, and this one, from STC.
My Pop always caught us on April Fool's Day. He'd simply stand by the window, staring out at the street. When one of us happened to walk by, he'd say "Oh my!" or "Well, would you look at that!" or something similar. And we, and by we, I mean I, would always look out the window and say, "What?" And he would laugh and say "April Fool!"
Anyway, so much for April Fool's Day.
It's a gorgeous day today, not at all what Good Friday ought to be. It ought to be gloomy and stormy, with great lightning bolts shooting out of the heavens at 3:00 to commemorate the death of Christ. At least, that's the way I felt when I was a kid and into rites and rituals. The hymns for Lent and Good Friday were always so bloody and violent!
O sacred head surrounded
By crown of piercing thorn!
O bleeding head so wounded
Reviled and put to scorn!
Yikes!
I think I'll just be happy for gorgeous day and the prospect of a beautiful weekend.
