All right, Bev, I'll bite!

Actually, Bev got this one from Stilettos and Sneakers. She condensed it a bit -- I am therefore doing the Beverly Sykes Condensed Version of A Long-ish Question Meme.

Do you hate more than 3 people?
Hate. Hmm. Yes -- I hate more than three people, but none of them know me. I hate from afar.

What is your favorite candy bar?
Heath bar, followed by Goldenberg's Peanut Chews and Hershey with Almonds. (Yes, I know Hershey chocolate is pedestrian. I still like it.)

What are your favorite shoes?
I love my Teva sandals, because they have excellent arch support, which means I can walk and walk and walk in them. I am lusting after a pair of Keen Mary Jane-ish shoes though.

Have you ever tripped someone?
No, I don't think so. I trip myself quite a lot.

Do you own a Britney Spears CD?
Oh please! No! A thousand times no!

Have you ever thrown up in public?
A couple of times.

One time I threw up in a bar bathroom somewhere in the south (I cannot for the life of me remember where) during my circus days. I started with beers right after lunch, then did two shows, then switched to 7&7, and then the room tilted. At least I made it to the bathroom.

Another time I threw up in the ER while I was waiting to get my head checked out. I knew it was coming and headed for the bathroom -- it was occupied. The janitor was right there, pushing a huge trash can. I said, "I have to vomit." He pointed to the trash can, I leaned right over, and yakked up mightily.

What is your favorite music genre?
Blues.

What is your sign?
Capricorn, with moon in Libra and Scorpio rising.

What time were you born?
3:16 am.

Do you like beer?
Yes -- I even like Guinness. But I drink very rarely.

Have you ever made a prank call?
Nope. Never even drunk dialed anyone.

What is the most embarrassing CD you own?
I think we might have a New Kids on The Block CD somewhere in the stacks. However, we do have a whole category known as Joe Flynn Weird Music, which includes many bizarre and strange selections.

Are you sarcastic?
Moi? I am the soul of sweetness and light.

What are your favorite colors?
Purple.

How many watches do you own?
Probably six or seven -- but most of them have dead batteries. I haven't worn one for most of the summer though. I really need to start wearing one again -- I get nervous when I don't know what time it is. Even though my cell phone shows it, I prefer looking at my wrist.

Summer or winter?
Summer, even with its humidity and heat, wins for me. I crave the beach and the ocean and the not-wearing of coats.

Spring or fall?
This is a tougher choice. I have a love-hate relationship with fall, so I think I have to go with spring. The flowers -- especially azaleas -- make it a winner around here.

What is your favorite color to wear?
Blues and purples and black.

Pepsi or Sprite?
Coke. All right, Pepsi over Sprite.

What color is your cell phone?
Black and silver.

Have you ever slapped someone?
No, but I've wanted to.

Have you ever had a cavity?
Many. All my molars and bicuspids are either crowned or filled. Back in The Olden Days, you see, we didn't have sealants and fluoride treatments. And I ate a lot of candy.

How many lamps are in your bedroom?
Four -- one on Joe's dresser, one clip-on reading spot on his side of the bed, a torchiere by the window, and one on my bedside table (but it doesn't work).

How many video games do you own?
None! However, we have many many Super Nintendo games left over from SonnyeBoy's youth. Anyone want them? Free! Free! Free!

What was your first pet?
Molly, a tiger cat. I suppose she was really the family pet -- we always had a cat in the house.

Have you ever had braces?
Yes, for 18 months when I was in seventh and eighth grades. Combine that with hideous glasses and bad acne and you have a real recipe for horrible teen angst.

Do looks matter?
Only dirty ones.

Do you use chapstick?
Occasionally. I have a stick in my purse, but I never remember to use it.

Name 3 teachers from your high school:
Sister Anne Cecilia (Geometry), Sister Carolyn Rose (English), and Miss Lewis (French).

American Eagle or Abercrombie?
The American Eagle makes a much better national symbol than Abercrombie.

Are you too forgiving?
Yes. I'm a sucker.

Do you own something from Hot Topic?
No. A 54-year old woman in Hot Topic clothing? Oh, so wrong.

What is your favorite breakfast?
Two eggs over medium, home fries or grits, and bacon. And grapefruit juice. And coffee. Lots of coffee. And maybe a milkshake.

Do you own a gun?
No, I do not. Nor will I ever.

When was the last time you cried?
Wednesday evening, when I got home from visiting my mom in the hospital. (She'll be okay, by the way.)

What did you do 3 nights ago?
That would be Wednesday. I went to my writing group, then I got phone call about mom, so I went to the hospital. When I got home, I did my Love Thursday entry.

Last month, with my juggling pal. (It wasn't all that. In fact, it wasn't even half that.)

Have you ever called your teacher mom?

No. Why would I do that?

Have you ever been in a castle?
No. There was, however, a building near where I grew up that was known as The Castle. It was originally built as a hotel for visitors to the fancy girls' finishing school nearby. It had stone turrets and everything! By the time I was a kid, though, it had morphed into a Hungarian restaurant and whorehouse.

What are your nicknames?
When I was little, I used to get called "Mary the Berry" or "Mare-bare". In college, some of my pals called me "Marie".

Do you know anyone named Bertha?
No, but I know a Beulah.

Once, in 2000. I would love to go back! I only had a chance to see Oahu, but I fell in love with the north shore.

Not anymore.

Yes, pretty happy.

Well, do you "like" or "Like"? I hope so, in both cases.

I went to an STC conference in Minneapolis -- my first as Director/Sponsor for my region.

No.

Have you ever stripped?

Every night before I go to bed -- oh, you didn't mean it that way?

What was the last film you saw at the cinema?

Bedazzled -- the original with Peter Cook and Dudley Moore. Far, far, far superior to the remake with Elizabeth Hurley and Brendan Fraser.

What are your favorite TV shows?

The Office, all the Law and Orders, Rescue Me (which better come back!). I think I'm going to like Studio 60, too.

What did you have for breakfast?

We went out for breakfast, so I had two eggs over, bacon, grits, a biscuit, coffee, and meds.

What is your middle name?

Ramon. Yes. I was named for the priest who converted my mother to Catholicism. He also baptized me, and he married Joe and me. He was a good man. Unfortunately, because there were always at least a half-dozen Marys in my Cat'lick school classes, we all were called by Mary+middle name: Mary Anne, Mary Louise, Mary Margaret, Mary Elizabeth, Mary Katherine...  you get the idea. Therefore, I got to go through grade school listening to "Why do have a BOY'S name?"

What foods do you dislike?

Liver, eggplant, curry, most Indian, anything really spicy.

What is your favorite CD at the moment?

A CD of Woody Allen's standup routines. "The Moose" is hysterical!

Nope -- I was way too much of a goody-goody for that.

Favorite day of the week?
Saturday, which would be today!
