2.If you had to describe your 2014 in 3 words, what would they be?
3.What new things did you discover about yourself?
- I'm braver than I thought I was.
- I hate merging onto the Schuylkill Expressway.
- With the exception of the PennDot bureaucracy, I really like Pennsylvania!
4.What single achievement are you most proud of?
Convincing executives that we really needed to hire two additional technical writers.
5.What was the best news you received?
My job offer!
6.What was your favourite place that you visited in 2014?
Ocean City, always.
7.Which of your personal qualities turned out to be the most helpful this year?
Patience -- it took a long time to get my job offer; it took a really long time to sell my house.
8.Who was your number one go-to person that you could always rely on?
9.Which new skills did you learn?
I learned a really cool new authoring tool called MadCap Flare. Really, I've just scratched the surface of its features and capabilities, but man oh man, it is slick.
10.What, or who, are you most thankful for?
My family, because of their constant encouragement, support, and love.
11.If someone wrote a book about your life in 2014, what kind of genre would it be? A comedy, love story, drama, film noir or something else?
A dramedy -- there were funny times, dramatic times, and everything turned out fine in the end.
12.What was the most important lesson you learnt in 2014?
If a door opens in front of you, at least look through it. If it looks promising, go through it.
13.Which mental block(s) did you overcome?
Fear of failing.
14.What 5 people did you most enjoy spending time with?
Joe, SonnyeBoy, my siblings (totally counting them as one), the Pratts (also counting as one), and my Realtor®.
15.What was your biggest break-through moment career-wise?
Happiness in your job is way more important than your salary.
16.How did your relationship to your family evolve?
I have a very good relationship with my family; it stayed that way.
17.What book or movie affected your life in a profound way?
Hmm -- I don't think any book or movie had that strong of an effect this year.
18.What was your favourite compliment that you received this year?
It was my third day at my new job. I took a presentation that my boss created and pretty much redid it. His response was "You should do all of my Powerpoint presentations."
19.What little things did you most enjoy during your day-to-day life?
My short short short commute, getting free Starbucks coffee at our clubhouse, visiting all of the breweries in the land, and more!
20.What cool things did you create this year?
Lots of Zentangles!
21.What was your most common mental state this year (e.g. excited, curious, stressed)?
Happiness! What a nice change!
22.Was there anything you did for the very first time in your life this year?
Yes -- I visited two castles and a historic national park
, went to a Phillies game, and treated myself to dinner at Morton's. (It was the most expensive meal I've ever had. Thank goodness it was delicious!)
23.What was your favourite moment spent with your friends?
The family reunion crab feast in Ocean City.
24.What major goal did you lay the foundations for?
The sale of our house. Not only did I lay the foundation, I achieved it, with the invaluable help of our Realtor® and lawyer.
25.Which worries turned out to be completely unnecessary?
I worried that this big change would turn out to be a big mistake. Nope!
