It has been a pretty epic week!
Mother Nature pelted us with about eight inches of snow and ice, and I got to work from home yesterday and today.
The Olympics began and of course I am glued to the TV. Figure skating, slopestyle snowboarding and skiing, hockey... you name it, I've watched it.
We got our state tax refund, exactly one week after we e-filed it. Whee!
And, oh by the way, I got a new job and gave my two weeks notice.
Hah! Those of you who follow me on Facebook know that last one already, but oh boy oh boy oh boy! Whee, YAY! WHOOP WHOOP WHOOP!
Whew. Just had to get that out of my system. So, here we go -- off to King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, to become the Product Documentation Lead at eBay Enterprise. I'll be reinventing the entire documentation function and making the business case for it. I'll get to hire and manage writers, work with product development, and generally make sure that the documentation for the company's ecommerce products is, in a word, great. I start March 3.
You know what? I'm taking a pay cut for this job. You know what? I don't care. How the hell are we going to find a place and move in such a short time? Hell if I know! But move we will, with the help of generous relocation assistance. It's highly likely that we'll find some sort of transitional housing deal while we dispose of our house, and then look around for a more permanent place.
The week at work has been interesting. The Underlord took the news much better than I thought she would; in fact, I got to thinking that maybe she was a little too pleased for me! I told her during our weekly one-on-one meeting, then sent her and the Overlord an email with the formal resignation and a short document stating what I finish. I finally heard from the Overlord WEDNESDAY by email. His email was so very him, talking about "the journey" and all that happy crappy. (I haven't a word from the Supreme Overlord. Believe me, I'm not hurt by the snub.)
But the best thing? Everyone -- and I mean everyone -- remarked about how happy I was! Happy!! Imagine that!
