Happy New Year!
Joe and I had a quiet and calm New Year's Eve. We had spaghetti and meat sauce for dinner, watched the Twilight Zone marathon until it was time to watch the ball drop, drank some champagne, shared a kiss, and went to bed. Whoo! That's us -- party all the time, party all the time!
This afternoon we had dinner with some old friends. It was lovely to be there, to eat good Italian sausages and salads, to munch on homemade marshmallows and biscotti, to catch up on each others' lives and chat with other folks we hadn't seen in a long while.
I don't ordinarily make lots of resolutions, but I do have one for this year.
I must take better care of my health. I've had a bad year for bronchitis, colds, and flu; and I am really tired of not feeling well. So I'm going to:
- Lose 20 pounds this year. If I do, I still won't be thin, but I going for small, doable goals here.
- The weight loss includes watching my blood sugar and blood pressure a lot more closely, not just taking the meds.
- Walk a lot more. I was doing really well until I caught a cold in October, dammit. I am going to shoot for at least one mile a day. This might be difficult until the weather gets warmer, but I'm going to try.
So there you go. Here's to a healthier year!
One last thing -- a wee bit of shameless promotion: On January 1, 2002 I wrote my first online journal/diary/blog post. Alas, I cannot link it, for I posted it on Diary-X, which crashed (literally) and burned in 2006. (Or was it 2005? Eh. Doesn't matter.) So this is my 11th "blogiversary," if you will. Hard to believe I've actually stuck with something for so long!
Well, we've come to the end of another great Holidailies season. I did pretty well -- 23 posts out of a possible 32! Many thanks to Richard and Jenipurr for all their hard work.
