Meritoriously Recognized

Today we drove out to Westminster to attend the Seventh Annual DUI Law Enforcement Awards Ceremony, sponsored by the Impaired Driving Coalition, the Maryland State Highway Administration, and the Maryland Highway Safety Office.

Why?

Because SonnyeBoy received a Meritorious Recognition Award for his work in getting drunk drivers off the streets of Ocean City! He was one of many, many officers receiving awards from just about every law enforcement agency in the state, but he was the only officer from Ocean City.

The chief of the Ocean City police was there too. She told us how proud she was that SonnyeBoy got the award, and that she was glad he chose Ocean City, and that she hoped he'd be there for a long time. Needless to say, Joe and I just about busted wide open right there.

After the ceremony everyone adjourned to the back of the hall for a crab feast. There was plenty of other good food too, but the main event was the crabs.

Eatcrabs

Alas, there was no beer -- not surprising, really, when you consider the theme of the event.

But I must admit that I did get a kick out the fact that the keynote speaker was Colonel James Champagne.
