Meme At The Movies

Bev comes through again! Here's a movie meme for you.

1. Name a movie that you have seen more than 10 times.

There are too many to list, but I'll go with The Shawshank Redemption. I mean, whenever I can't sleep, I just turn on the All Shankshank, All The Time channel and watch it again.

2. Name a movie that you've seen multiple times in the theater.

This one's more interesting! In fact, I'll combine this question with the previous one and list three movies that I've seen more than 10 times in the theater: Dr. Zhivago (I was 13 and in love with Omar Sharif), A Hard Day's Night (I was 12 and in love with John Lennon), and 200 Motels (I was 19 and in lust with Frank Zappa). It's kind of amazing -- my mom would drop me and a pal off at the movie theater for the afternoon, we'd watch the movie two or three times, then she'd pick us up. I doubt that would ever happen today. For one thing, you can't watch a movie over and over again anymore!

3. Name an actor that would make you more inclined to see a movie.

Helen Mirren.

4. Name an actor that would make you less likely to see a movie.

Steven Segal.

5. Name a movie that you can and do quote from.

The Producers. "I'm not a madam; I'm the concierge!"

6. Name a movie musical that you know all of the lyrics to all of the songs.

Top Hat. "Heaven, I'm in heaven..."

7. Name a movie that you have been known to sing along with.

I'd never sing out loud in the theater, but at home? See Number 6.

8. Name a movie that you would recommend everyone see.

Casablanca. My all-time favorite. If you can, see it on a big screen.

9. Name a movie that you own.

We own dozens -- but I'll choose the original "Bedazzled", with Peter Cook and Dudley Moore. A gem!

10. Name an actor that launched his/her entertainment career in another medium but who has surprised you with his/her acting chops.

Bill Murray has evolved from silly stand-up and sketch comedian to a damn fine actor.

11. Have you ever seen a movie in a drive-in? If so, what?

Yes! Of course! The last time was when I was pregnant with SonnyeBoy. We went to a double feature of Altered States and The Shining. Hmm. Maybe that's why he became a cop.

12. Ever made out in a movie?

Why do you think we sit in the back row?

13. Name a movie that you keep meaning to see but just haven't yet gotten around to it.

An Inconvenient Truth. I know, I know!

14. Ever walked out of a movie?

No. Should have, though.

15. Name a movie that made you cry in the theater.

Again, too many to count because I tear up at the drop of a hat, so I'll list seven: Forrest Gump, Driving Miss Daisy, Casablanca (Yes, I've seen it in a theater!), The Shawshank Redemption, Venus, Mad Hot Ballroom, Miracle.

16. Popcorn?

Yes, please, large.

17. How often do you go to the movies (as opposed to renting them or watching them at home)?

A couple times a month, I guess. It's a treat for us!

18. What's the last movie you saw in the theater?

Venus. Peter O'Toole was excellent, and the scenes with Vanessa Redgrave were touching.

19. What's your favorite/preferred genre of movie?

Comedy.

20. What's the first movie you remember seeing in the theater?

Cinderella. I couldn't have been more than six, but I remember those mice and birdies sewing up a storm.

21. What movie do you wish you had never seen?

E Tu Mama Tambien. I don't know; it just left a bad taste in my mouth.

22. What is the weirdest movie you enjoyed?

Performance, with Mick Jagger. Then again, it might have been the perceptual enhancements I had indulged in.

23. What is the scariest movie you've seen?

Curse of the Demon, with Dana Andrews.

24. What is the funniest movie you've seen?

Oh my God, I can't choose one! Again, a list of seven: It's a Gift (W.C. Fields), Take the Money and Run (Woody Allen), The Producers (Zero Mostel and Gene Wilder), Young Frankenstein (Gene Wilder), Airplane (Leslie Nielsen), A Night At the Opera (The Marx Brothers), Bedazzled (Peter Cook and Dudley Moore).
